Should Warner Brothers Give Money To Victims?

The idea that Warner Brother’s should donate money from this weekends opening earnings, to the victims and victims families that were involved in the shooting at a Dark Knight Rises midnight showing at Century 16 in Aurora, Colorado is growing. I guess I don’t quite understand why this is growing? Warner Brother’s didn’t pay this guy and weren’t involved. It isn’t like this was a media stunt gone awry. Why should Warner Brother’s be expected to give money to these families? Why is it that some people are saying they should at least pay medical cost involved?

This incident was a very sad and tragic thing to happen to our country. It wasn’t the first and it won’t be the last of such events. It made us think about our safety at one of America’s and becoming the world’s favourite things to do in our spare time. It made that safety blanket of fun and excitement go away. The victims in that auditorium in that theatre that survived are more than likely just happy to be alive. I know that I would be happy. I wouldn’t be expecting any money to come my way from this. The people and families that lost people in that auditorium are, I’m sure, quite sad. But no amount of money is going to replace the lost, or make that pain go away. Again, I would be sad if I lost someone in this, but I wouldn’t expect some kind of payout from it either.

Now with all of that said, I would like to say that I would be surprised if Warner Brother’s doesn’t do something for the victims. It however, shouldn’t be expected and they shouldn’t be harassed if they end up not doing anything. I’d also like to say to the people complaining about not being able to dress up to go to your showing of Dark Knight Rises, please remember it is a small sacrifice that you’re making compared to those that were in that auditorium at Century 16.

Real Project X’s

The party movie Project X and the record amount of foreclosed homes is causing a problem. People are trying to recreate the party that was in Project X, but of course no one wants to have it at their actual home, so they are finding foreclosed homes or brand new homes that aren’t selling and throwing the parties there. There have been parties thrown all over with the most popular stories coming from Farmington Hills, Michigan; Calgary, Alberta; and Miramar, Florida The latest one was in Houston, Texas where it was reported that 500-1000 people attended. Once the party was shut down and everyone was in the street some guy started to shoot at the crowd. One guy got shot in the head and died. Texas would bring the guns to a party…

While normally it is hard to find a direct correlation to the game industry or film industry for the way teens and people in general act, this one is very straight forward. Many of the person’s name the parties “Project” something or just say that their party is inspired by the movie. A possible sequel was already announced for Project X, so I have to wonder how this will affect that movie plan. Personally, I think if someone wants to be stupid and imitate a movie and throw a party like that, then that is their stupid fault, but I’d like an invite… Please?

Red Box Better Not!

Imagine my surprise back a month or so ago when I rented “Water For Elephants” from Red Box and noticed that it came on my online bank account as a $1.20 rental fee. I honestly couldn’t believe it and was a little pissed. Then I researched and found out that back in October they had raised prices. Obviously it had been a while since I has last rented a DVD. After thinking about it I didn’t mind s much because other places were still more to rent. Now there is a question on whether or not Red Box will once again raise its rental fees since it let its DVD contract with Warner Brothers run out. Warner Brothers was going to make Netflix and Red Box wait 56 days before they could receive a new DVD. Netflix agreed to the new contract and Red Box didn’t causing Red Box to go through another distributer, not the studio, to get the DVD’s. Some are worried that prices now will go up again since the DVD’s are going to have to be bought in mass at regular price and not at the studio’s discounted price.

Is there anything to keep red Box from raising its prices again? Actually, yes. One thing is that Red Box just raised the prices back four months ago in October. They may be worried that raising the price of a one-night rental again so soon after just raising could push customers away. The biggest thing that may keep them from holding prices at current levels is the fact that they are now allowed to start renting the new DVD’s on the day that they are released, no wait period enforced. This in turn may bring in more customers in general and may cause even some of Netflix’s customers to rent from Red Box on new releases instead of waiting for them in 56 days when Netflix will have them. More people renting through Red Box should off set the more expensive purchase of the DVD’s.

I do fully expect that Red Box will raise their prices by the end of the year once again. I guess a huge successful business forgot that they are popular for cheap rentals that the more expensive video stores such as Blockbuster or the vast Video-On-Demand offerings from cable and satellite providers. Red Box along with Netflix put a lot of video stores out of business or on life support because of their higher prices. Now they are just going to raise their prices? I hope Red Box never reaches the price of Blockbuster or the like. For now keep on Red Boxing!

Hedwig’s Family Spotted

Hedwig from the “Harry Potter” book and movie series is a snowy white owl. This type of owl has been spotted in mass numbers this year from coast-to-coast across the United States. Apparently this is rare and when they do come to the US they are in much smaller numbers every three to four years. If you are like me and like science and nature then you may wanna read the article below. I’m not always just talking about myself or news from the pop culture.
