The 2012 MTV Movie Awards was great this year for the most part. Russell Brand did a fantastic job at hosting and was very funny. I like how he doesn’t care to go there or talk about what others might seem “sensitive” subjects. He even poked fun at his own failed marriage which I think is great that he can do that. There were other bright spots throughout the awards, but my main rant is coming from the movies nominated.
I guess I had never really realized that pretty much any movie from the last MTV Movie Awards to the current one can be nominated for that current years show. I don’t like this. The 2012 awards should have only been for movies released during 2011, that’s January, 2011 thru December 31, 2011.The Hunger Games,as much as I love the books and movie shouldn’t have been able to be nominated for any awards considering it just came out in March of this year, 2012, not 2011. I believe it was the only movie that wasn’t released in 2011, but it still annoying. I really wish this would be changed, but I assume it has always been that way.
My only other problem with the show was that Breaking Dawn Part I brough the “Movie of the Year” to the Twilight franchise once again. I just feel like with last years great, unique movies they shouldn’t have won. There were so many great comedies that should have been able to win that award, Bridesmaids being my top choice followed by Horrible Bosses. I have to understand though, most of the voters are tween to teenage girls who are planning a pregnancy while watching 16 and Pregnant, so anything other than a Twilight movie ever stood a chance.
Last night Katy Perry debuted her newest single, “Part of Me” at the 2012 Grammys show. The song is well on its way to becoming another number one hit for the hit lister that is Perry. Despite many, including myself, believing that the track is about Katy’s ex Russell Brand, it is actually an older song. It was a song that was recorded during the recording sessions for the “Teenage Dream” album. The song didn’t make the original cut, but it is going to be n the re-released version “Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection” which is due out March 27.
“Part of Me” is a great song about a break-up and not letting it get the best of you. Even though the song wasn’t originally about Russell Brand, Katy has added some lines including, “keep your diamond ring”, that have retooled the song towards Russell. The song was being played on Clear Channel Radio stations on the hour, every hour February 13. The song should be able to hit number one with or without riding the Katy-Russell divorce marketing. It is a great, catchy song that I have been repeating all day. You can see the awesomely designed lyric video below. Hopefully, we can get a music video soon.
Katy Perry apparently went to Twitter to tweet about the rumours that have been spreading about her and Russell Brand getting a divorce. Katy tweeted:
“Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, “close sources” or my family.”
Now this doesn’t answer the one question that we all still wonder: What happened? RIght before the Christmas holiday both had went to Twitter and in interviews said everything to do with their marriage was fine. Then in early January they get divorced? There must have been problems awhile back and they both played it off very well. Which I have to say is pretty awesome of them to try to keep some sort of privacy. I am sure in the coming weeks and months more on this divorce will pour in, but until then we are all still waiting.
It is being rumoured that Katy Perry and Russell Brand didn’t sign any type of pre-nup agreement. That means that Russell could be entitled to half of all the money that Katy made this year. She made around $40 million last year. Even though I love Katy I have to say she deserves it. What celebrity in this day and age gets married without out signing a pre-nup? It doesn’t matter if you don’t think you won’t ever get a divorce. She also should have wanted one for herself because she is the one bringing in the most money.
Despite both Russell Brand and Katy Perry saying recently that they are not getting a divorce and are fine… They are getting a divorce. I really hate to see this happen because even though I though they were and odd match, I really like seeing them together. Apparently it was Brand that started the divorce proceedings and it is rumoured that Perry was blindsided. How blindsided can you be when you spend Christmas 7,000 miles apart? Again, I am sad to hear this news, but we will see what happens. Maybe she should have went with her first impression of him at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards… She didn’t like him.

For the first time ever, MTV has decided to do one uniform “Best” list and has named Katy Perry as this years artist of the year. I agree with what is said in the article about Perry. Katy Perry really was everywhere in 2011 and continued to release great music from her “California Gurls” album. She also had a large multi-city concert tour that was seen all over. Even the bad rumours of her and Russell Brand still is something that shows how much she was around and a hot topic this year. If the single “The One That Got Away” is able to hit number one she will break Michael Jackson’s record of most number one single from a single album which she is currently tied with. Let’s hop we continue to see amazing things from Katy Perry in the very near future and beyond. The link below also discusses the other “Best” artist in their categories and how MTV is doing the list now.

MSN’s Wonderwall is reporting here that Katy Perry and Russell Brand are heading towards Splitsville. This would be sad to me despite me wondering why Perry even wanted to marry Brand. I will have to say that my opinions is very vain and not looking at his personality which I am sure is as great in person as we see on the big screen. I am one to disregard all tabloid rumours until they are found to be true. I was wrong about how the rumour of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries not being true. Therefore, I have to say that I do not believe this rumour about Perry and Brand for one minute. The pair has been very secretive about their wedding and that makes me unsure of how anyone except for close friends or family would know anything on the status of their relationship.
The evidence to me is laid out in Wonderwall’s article. The two are very busy people and have been mostly separate from each other during their first year of marriage. A 122 city concert tour has to be very time-consuming and tiring and I can see how it would be seen as them not being seen together. The only thing that stands out to me is the fact that Katy Perry didn’t give a shout out at Russell Brand for his support of her. This could just be a detail that we all are trying to turn into something more than it is. I have to wonder if maybe it is because he wasn’t involved much with the making of the album “Teenage Dream”?
Anyway, I guess we will find out sooner or later. Just keep in mind how many times you have heard or seen the rumour that Angelina and Brad or Kendra and Hank were splitting.
