The first song off “The Hunger Games” soundtrack was released to generate buzz for the movie. Who was the singer they got to do it? Well of course country-pop sensation Taylor Swift. The music behind her voice is by a group that I have never heard of called The Civil Wars. I also think they lend backing vocals to the song. The song is a beautiful song that matches with the books so well. The words in the lyrics match well with all of the books and what happens in the books and what should happen in this movie trilogy. Taylor is known for writing most of her music on her own with very little help. It has me wondering if maybe Taylor is a fan of the books and was able to write this beautiful song? The reason I wonder is because of the lyrics matching so well with the book. If she didn’t write it, do we really care? Of course not because this song, these books, this movie, and Taylor Swift are all amazing.
The song being a country song also fits well. The two main characters in the books are from District 12 which seems to be described, though never actually said, as an area in Eastern Kentucky or somewhere in the state of West Virginia… Somewhere in the mountainous area of the Appalachian Mountains. They used The Civil Wars which is a Bluegrass music band which is fitting for where they are from. The song literally is perfect for the movie.
I figure the song won’t actually be in any of the movie. Like with “Breaking Dawn Part One” where “It Will Rain” by Bruno Mars was the song used to market the movie, but it was only played at the end during the credits. I imagine that is where we will see this song in “The Hunger Games”. Take a listen to the song below and tell me know what you think!
